What's a road trip without a few shots of the road? I do enjoy taking these shots, and hope they don't get repetitive. Sometimes they feel like the best way to get a quick grasp of how remote you are. Granted, this is a paved road, which is somewhat of a rarity in Mongolia, but as one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, you are almost always in a remote area.
It's quite fascinating how people still can live a nomadic life. Roughly 30% of Mongolians make their living from breeding livestock, and, there is a LOT of livestock in Mongolia (more than people). Since most of the land outside of the towns and few cities is not privately owned, the country is well positioned to the pastoral life these herders live.
