A Pioneering Wave

As has been the case with several of my North Korean photos, I took this one from a moving bus. It's not an ideal situation, but if you're not paying attention and taking photos occasionally while on the bus, you're missing out on a lot of great photos!

The red scarves these girls are wearing are a sign they belong to the Korean Youth Corps (조선소년단), which is the North Korean version of the youth Pioneer movement. Membership in the youth corps is widespread and it would be pretty rare for a child of age to not try to enter into the movement.
