Even a peaceful, Buddhist country that values the happiness of its people more than their economic output, has to have some modern civic functions. In the Bhutanese diarchy, where the secular ruler governs in duality with the spiritual leader, Tashichhoedzong exists as a Buddhist monastery and fortress in the capital city of Thimphu.
Tashichhoedzong, "the fortress of glorious religion" is the seat of the Druk Desi, the head of Bhutan's civil government which has been combined with the kingship since the creation of the monarchy in 1907. All of that was really just a long way of saying, here's a nice flag pole topped with the flag of Bhutan and a couple guards standing by.
