Look Into My Eyes

I really didn't know what to expect when visiting the Ovahimba. I had some preconceived notions, that it would be incredibly difficult to get some good photos. Little did I know I was practically walking into a model photo shoot! The kids and everyone were really amazing! It's like they've been modeling and posing for years. They were super cooperative and loved seeing their photos on the LCD screens of my cameras.

My guide, a local Himba who grew up splitting his time in both the traditional Himba way as well as in a more modernized fashion, said he visits this family on average about once a month. I'm not sure if any other guides actually visit this family, but you get the sense that while visits are somewhat normal, they're not exactly everyday affairs either.
