Parrott's Blacksmith shop is located in the small historic central district of Columbia, California. The historic district is effectively the Columbia California State Historic Park. I'm not sure how much of the blacksmith shop is intended for practical business vs that of selling horseshoes and metal magic tricks to tourists.
The historic district seemed to be one of the nicer gold rush towns I've seen. It's not quite a ghost town and the buildings are operating for touristic purposes and people live in the town, but you can also get a feel for what it might have been like a 150 years ago. The people working in the district dress the part too!
