El Capitolio

Morning view of the National Capitol Building in Havana. It was the seat of the government until the Cuban Revolution, after which, it became the home of the Cuban Academy of Sciences. The government is currently restoring the building with plans to make it the home of the National Assembly and is starting to open it up to the public.

It's a very beautiful building, which makes me immediately think of the Capitol building as it might have existed in the 50s, with the whirl of classic American cars driving through the streets. However, the palm trees are a dead giveaway that you're not in D.C.

Took this photo from the balcony of my suite at the Hotel Saratoga. How I was chosen to get a complimentary upgrade from the cheapest room in the hotel to the most expensive room in the hotel, where Beyoncé and Jay-Z stayed, I have no idea, but I also have no complaints. It was absolutely amazing and with this great view!

The streets of Old Havana start to come awake on a sleepy Sunday morning.
